The Union Park Lifestyle: A Year of Building Bonds

Union Park by Hillwood is more than just a neighborhood; it’s a vibrant community we’re all proud to call home, where every resident is part of an extended family. In 2023, that family continued to grow as our community flourished, coming together around unforgettable events that brought us closer, taught us new skills, and offered countless opportunities to give back.

Whether it was gathering just for fun, to break a sweat, or to support our broader community, 2023 was packed with wonderful memories as we enjoyed life at Union Park together. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, and revisit the events that made 2023 a year to remember!

We Made New Friends

This year, Union Park saw numerous new faces, and what better way to welcome them than through our engaging community get-togethers? From marquee events like the lively Barnyard Bash or the Christmas in July luau, to relaxing social settings like pool parties or our many homeowner group gatherings (like the Golf Cart Crew, the Bad Moms, 55+, and more), new connections were formed all year round, strengthening the fabric of our community.

We Celebrated Each Season

For every season there’s a reason to celebrate: at least, there is at Union Park! Gathering with our neighbors to enjoy each season was a highlight across our community this year.

From the holiday cheer of Winter Wonderland, to the competition of the Adult Easter Egg Hunt, the joy of the annual Trunk or Treat, or the Fourth of July Freedom Fest  (complete with massive waterslides!), 2023 was a year where each season was marked with unforgettable fun.

We Got Moving

From community-wide runs and tournaments to weekly fitness classes (like UP Fit Camp), breaking a sweat with our neighbors was a staple at Union Park this year. Taking full advantage of our community amenities, we indulged our competitive edge at the Pickleball Tournament, kept busy at the sand volleyball court, and even added some fun to our fitness at the Ugly Sweater 5k. Health thrives in a supportive community, and nowhere was that more obvious than at Union Park this year.

We Supported Our Community

Our collective commitment to our broader community shone brightly in 2023. Our packing event and our annual Freezin’ for a Reason event helped Lovepacs Aubrey, an organization that provides snacks, meals and pantry staples to children in the community facing food insecurity. These events, our ongoing partnership with Denton ISD to deliver treats and surprises to the Braswell Zone special needs classrooms, and the Small Business Owners Fall Expo are just a few examples of how we support our neighbors, making Union Park a wonderful, caring place.

We Celebrated Our Heroes

We took time from the busy rhythms of daily life to honor our heroes this year. The Union Park Elementary Holiday Staff Lunch and the Braswell High School Orchestra’s Veteran’s Day Concert were heartfelt tributes to those who inspire us daily. And we took every chance we got to say thank you to our heroes at the Little Elm Fire and Police Departments who help us in so many wonderful ways, such as managing our Bike Rodeo, taking part in National Night Out, and more.

A Year of Learning and Trying New Things

Whether it involved learning line-dancing, attending a braiding workshop, or taking part in an origami class, 2023 was a year of discovery and skill-building here at Union Park. These experiences not only added plenty of fun, but also enriched our lives with new knowledge and hobbies.

We Had Endless Fun

From start to finish, 2023 was a year filled with laughter and joy. Events like the Foam Party, 80s Murder Mystery Prom, Cosmic Glow in the Dark Bingo, or summertime favorites like Dive-In Movies ensured that there was never a dull moment in Union Park all year long.

Union Park: A Lifestyle Community Unlike Any Other

Union Park stands apart in our commitment to a lifestyle program that allows all of our residents to share life together. Whether it’s the steady rhythm of weekly programs, our many homeowner groups, or dazzling one-off events, not a week goes by without something to celebrate here. This program is guided by Lifestyle Manager Jenny Laible who is the heart of our community, fostering connections through diverse events, groups, and activities. It’s no wonder our community was honored with the Dallas Builders’ Association’s 2023 Lifestyle Director of the Year and Lifestyle Program of the Year awards.

Union Park residents agree:

“I love living in Union Park because they have so many events throughout the year for adults and children. Now that I have a baby, I am excited for her to take part in all the events. I also have had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people at these events. Although I am not near family, it is great being able to build connections.” – Soumya Mohan

“Prior to living in Texas, feeling part of a community and knowing your neighbors wasn’t a thing. It’s nice raising our son in Union Park because he has neighborhood friends that he goes to school with and we love knowing and spending time with our neighbors at events.” –Stefanie Howard

Union Park is not just a neighborhood. The way the community comes together in times of need is something I’ve never seen before! Everyone is so caring and we all genuinely want the best for each other.  All the fun events certainly help too.  I love where we live! – Cyndi Gomez
